Own an extremely rare and significant piece of aviation history!
Authentic piece of the Lockheed F-117A Nighthawk 'stealth fighter', combined with Ron Cole's original painting of this aircraft in action, in an 11x17-inch wall-hanging display. Signed and numbered - very limited quantities!
The Nighthawk was the world's first operational 'stealth' aircraft, and was used in combat by the United States Air Force between 1989 and 2006. Only 59 were built.
Authenticity:
This fragment was cut from a larger section of one of this aircraft's twin vertical stabilizers (see photos). These stabilizers were removed from the F-117A fleet several years ago, and were replaced by stabilizers of a composite design. All were subjected to the removal of their RAM (Radar Absorbing Material) coating, which was quite toxic and still Classified. This treated panel was obtained by Robb Hill, former Aviation Curator of the Veterans Museum in Las Vegas, Nevada, before being acquired by Cole's Aircraft. The Skunk Works inspection stamps (ADP - Advanced Development Programs) cover the internals of this panel.
Meticulously machined and assembled by hand, each piece is attached to the glass of these displays with Velcro, outside side down, to reveal the complicated machine work on the yellow powder-coated interior, but allows the part to be removed to see the black-painted exterior.
